See How A Robot Saved A Little Girl From Being Crushed By A Shelf (Photos)

A robot has been credited with saving a little girl’s life as she was about to be crushed by a toppling shelf. The girl can be seen in the lobby of a university but as her parent’s back is turned she started to climb the shelf, presumably to reach something on the top shelf. But as the shelving unit starts to topple the robot zooms forward and lifts up its arm to stop the metal unit collapsing down on top of the girl.
The video was captured on CCTV in the lobby of the Perm Polytechnic University in the central Russian city of Perm.
The youngster can be seen playing around in the lobby while visitors milled around on the busy day of the student graduation ceremony.

The robot, named Promobot, is seen moving on wheels towards the metal shelves as the youngster starts to climb.
It reaches the shelves at the perfect time and is then seen holding out a hand to stop it from falling on top of the youngster as it starts to topple under her weight.
Surprised, she hops down and skips off as though nothing has happened.
Oleg Kivokurtsev, Director of Promobot’s Development said the robot had been invited to the graduation ceremony to take part in the even, and was waiting for its turn to be called when the accident happened.
He added it was a “pure coincidence” as it is equipped with a ‘mirror mode’ which enables it to emulate human actions.
